I have lived and worked in the Hudson Valley of New York State all of my life. I have loved and been involved in the visual arts since before my teenage years. I am retired after 34 years as a high school art teacher and art department chair in Saugerties, NY. My experience as a painter has spanned those years. I’ve worked in watercolor, oils and acrylics with a variety of subject matter ranging from portraiture to still-life and landscape. Presently, I am doing landscapes in acrylic on board. I find acrylics to be quite suitable to my way of working both in the studio and outdoors in the field. As for inspiration, I am especially drawn to the Catskill Mountains and the streams that eventually find their way down to the Hudson River.

Currently, I teach painting and drawing at the Woodstock School of Art in Woodstock, NY and The Country Owl School in Brandon, VT. I am also available for works on commission.

If you would like more information about my work; purchasing any of my paintings or wish to inquire about commissioned work, feel free to contact me at tgudmundsen@yahoo.com or by phone at (845) 247-0461.
